On September 12, deputy general Manager and chief Engineer Wang Zhi and his team met with Chile’s Ambassador to China, Mr. Louis Schmidt Montes, at the Chilean Embassy in Beijing to coordinate the construction of the China-Chile Future Copper Technology Center between Fangyuan and the University of Concepcion in Chile.
Wang Zhi briefly introduced to Ambassador Schmidt on the trade and technical exchanges and cooperation between Fangyuan Company and Chile's CODELCO, ENAMI, Concepcion University and other enterprises and universities. She pointed out that in the course of more than ten years of cooperation, Fangyuan and its Chilean partners have established extensive and in-depth understanding and mutual trust, and promoted substantive cooperation in copper resources trade and capacity cooperation, nonferrous metallurgical technology research and development, project cooperation and other aspects. This time, Fangyuan and the University of Concepcion in Chile have further deepened their cooperation in the fields of precision automation control of metallurgical processes, efficient recovery of trace elements, research and development of metallurgical technology and equipment and sustainable development of key frontier technologies in nonferrous metallurgy, academic exchanges and personnel training. The cooperation will jointly create a future copper technology center between China and Chile, further realize mutual benefit and win-win situation, and promote bilateral cooperation to a new level.
Ambassador Schmidt is very pleased that such an excellent company as Fangyuan can develop together with Chile as a partner. Chile is a big country with copper resources and production, CODELCO and other world-class copper production enterprises, and the University of Concepcion nonferrous metallurgy research in Chile is also first-class. We welcome the long-term and extensive cooperation between enterprises such as Fangyuan Company and Chile. The Chinese Embassy and I will give our full support to the construction of the China-Chile Future Copper Technology Center. We will actively promote this good thing through diplomatic channels, which will benefit both the Chinese and Chile people and the nonferrous industries.
Schmidt is Chile's ambassador to China and President of Chile's National Agricultural Association, and twice served as President of Chil's Fruit Farmers Association. In June this year, he was reappointed by President Pinera as ambassador to China. On August 16th, Schmidt submitted his credentials to China's Ministry of foreign affairs and took office.
